Being home to Whidbey Island Race Week one of the top ten sailing regattas in the United States, Whidbey and Camano Islands are equipped with all of the essentials for visitors to take advantage of the surrounding water.
  • There are many fresh water lakes around the islands with boat ramps available to those wishing to explore the waters.


  • On Camano Island there are numerous public boat launches. The three most popular are Utsalady Point Road, Maple Grove, and Camano Island State Park.

  • Center for Wooden Boats offers free sailing trips on each Mother's Day. Located at Cama Beach State Park, offering maritime heritage skill building classes, workshops, and events at the newly restored boathouse.   • Taking advantage of the beauty that is Whidbey Island, Deception Pass Tours, a new business that will be operating out of Cornet Bay adjacent to Deception Pass State Park, will take passengers on hourly tours underneath the famed Deception Pass bridge.   • Sailing out of the Langley Marina, with regular scheduled excursions on Fridays & Saturdays and group charters during the week, the Langley Explorer is 28-feet in length and accommodates up to 20 passengers. The vessel has a heated, enclosed cabin with 10 comfortable air-cushioned Captain's chairs and six bench seats. It has bow loading capability for beach or launch ramp embarkation throughout the Sound.   • In Coupeville, you can access the town from the dock all day, and anchoring in Penn Cove overnight will offer a truly serene sleep. Moorage at Coupeville wharf/Penn Cove, call (360) 678-5020.


  • If you like history, quaint seaport towns, marine museums, fine dining and a cruise, this is the tour for you. Board the 100ft. Mystic Sea for a waterfront tour and cruise of a lifetime. Your tour begins at the Rosie Gray Whale Museum at the old Coupeville Wharf. Upon your departure aboard the Mystic Sea you will view the old pictures on screen with full narration by a local historian.     Learn about Coupeville, San de Fuca, Ebey's Landing, Admiralty Head Lighthouse, Camp Casey and the Guns of Fort Casey and yes, even the local sailing ships of the past. This is a combined sequence of history that has never been brought together before.

    All of this while cruising past the old waterfront town of Coupeville which was founded in 1850 by Captain Coupe of Bath, Maine and the lost ghost town of Coveland, 1853, now called San de Fuca.
